Our ties to Liverpool run through family, the schools we attended and the communities that have shaped our lives. Today, we live in West Derby Village and this website is a place to share more of that story.
It is also somewhere to celebrate the people, places and organisations that make West Derby special, and to keep residents updated on local issues in a straightforward, useful way.

Liberal Democrat candidate for West Derby Leyfield in 2027, and a lifelong West Derby resident.
David attended St Paul's and Cardinal Heenan. He takes part in the monthly litter picks with Friends of Springfield Park. His approach is simple: listen, respond and report back.

Liberal Democrat candidate for Sandfield Park in 2027, focused on its neighbourhoods and the priorities raised by residents.
Phil also attended St Paul's. His Sandfield Park work is clear and distinct, while he and David share the same West Derby home and community story.

David's home patch is West Derby Leyfield. Phil's is Sandfield Park. The boundary matters at election time, but local life does not stop at a line on a map, so neither do we.
We each lead our work in our own area, but we share what residents tell us, turn up for each other and work together when an issue affects both communities.

Phil leads our work here: being visible, listening to residents and following up neighbourhood issues, with David ready to help whenever something is shared across the boundary.
The bigger picture
Our work in West Derby Leyfield and Sandfield Park is part of something bigger. Liverpool Labour currently controls the city council. Liberal Democrats are working ward by ward to offer a positive alternative and build a council that listens, delivers and gets the basics right.
The case for change
Residents should not have to chase the council to get the basics right. Small problems should be dealt with before they become bigger ones.
We are campaigning for a council that listens before it makes decisions, responds when people raise concerns and spends every pound with care.
What we are fighting for across Liverpool
Fix roads, clear gullies, collect bins properly and deal with everyday problems before they get worse.
Protect parks, tackle litter and fly tipping and keep our neighbourhoods looking cared for.
Build council homes and make sure new developments bring the GP surgeries, dental care and other local services people need.
Restore school crossing support, tackle dangerous parking and give young people safe places to go.
Spend public money carefully while attracting the jobs and investment Liverpool needs.
Open decisions, proper consultation and clear answers when residents raise a problem.

Our shared priorities
We each lead our work in our own area and help each other whenever an issue crosses the boundary.
A named local warden who knows West Derby and can tackle repeat littering and poor parking hotspots.
Better parking and stronger enforcement around local schools, alongside action on speeding and unsafe crossings.
Regular litter picks, reporting fly tipping and keeping the pressure on until neighbourhood problems are dealt with.
Start with what residents are actually experiencing.
Raise the issue with the right people and keep pushing.
Share the response clearly, including when work is ongoing.
